What refereeing taught me about decision-making
Like many people in the Grant Thornton network, I know what it’s like to have your decisions publicly scrutinised, to be used as a scapegoat when things go wrong. While I’ve never audited the accounts of a high profile company, my experience as an international handball referee holding the whistle in an Olympic gold medal match has taught me a lot about the value of preparation when it comes to getting the tough calls right.
